WELCOME TO IB

About the Course

The texts in IB English IV are drawn from a variety of authors and time periods. Here are a few of the authors we will be studying: Plato, Horace, Shakespeare, Silko, Flaubert, Bronte, Chopin, Rhye, as well as various poets and writers of short stories.

All of our readings will be useful on the assignments and papers written for IB. The skills we will be working on reflect those competencies tested on the papers you will write for the class and for your oral commentary in December. There will also be assignments which emphasize creativity and self-expression. The work load is significant, but we will do our best to keep it fairly evenly paced; students will always have plenty of notice on major assignments. Each syllabus will be handed out to the students and will be posted on this website. As in all courses, but especially in discussion-based classes such as mine, good attendance is critical. There is a great deal of instruction I simply cannot duplicate for a student who has missed.

This class is based on your particpation both in and out of the class. Please be sure to keep up with all assignments and come see me if you have any questions. I am here to help you succeed. I am excited about the 2009-2010 school year. and can not wait to continue the conversation with you.
